A New Chapter in Pat’s Life

Pat Wardell is known for her quick smile and outgoing personality, making everyone around her feel at ease. When her beloved husband of 57 years passed away, Pat knew that she needed to find a community where she could thrive, connect and embrace the next chapter of her life.

“I came here and it has been my salvation,” Pat shares. “It really has. It’s just a wonderful, wonderful place.” Moving to Edgehill was a decision that Pat never looked back on. Having lived in nearby Old Greenwich for many years, Pat was familiar with Edgehill and the welcoming environment quickly became home.

A Familiar Face, A New Circle of Friends

Since settling into her new life here in our community, Pat has met many new people and reconnected with some familiar faces. “I’ve loved meeting so many people from Old Greenwich and Riverside, but also from different walks of life,” Pat says. Her ability to make connections and create bonds is a testament to her vibrant personality and commitment to building a strong community.

Pat, who raised four children with her husband and was actively involved in volunteer work, continues to bring her passion for helping others to Edgehill. As a member of the resident-led activity committee, she is always looking for ways to create meaningful opportunities for residents to engage with one another.

“I’m a committee person,” she beams and her efforts are certainly making a difference. Most recently, she planned Edgehill’s first committee fair, an event designed to introduce residents to the wide variety of activities available for enrichment and engagement.

“We’re also starting a photography group,” Pat shares. “We have a few residents who are very into photography, so we’ll have a group where people can sit and show their pictures. We keep trying to focus on new things so it’s fun.” Pat’s drive to foster an environment where residents can try new activities and explore their passions speaks to her commitment to making Edgehill a place where everyone can feel included.

Welcoming New Residents and Sharing the Edgehill Experience

Beyond organizing activities, Pat takes it upon herself to welcome new residents and make them feel at home. “I make an effort to have dinner with new residents,” Pat explains. She also encourages potential residents to experience Edgehill for themselves and see just how welcoming the community is. “Really, the best gift you can give your kids is coming here,” she says. “I wish people would understand that because it is amazing.”

An Active Lifestyle at Edgehill

Pat is a prime example of how living in a senior community can offer a fulfilling, active lifestyle. From her role on the activity committee to her dedication to welcoming others, Pat continues to enrich the lives of those in the community. For Pat, Edgehill truly is home.
